All the while dealing with the most incompetent customer service I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to. They put a hold on my card, claimed to send a new one but never did, and due to their process I'll either get my money back in a couple of months or never. So, to sum up: Someone was able to spend my card IN STORE several states away without having it while I have to jump through every security loop imaginable just to get information about it. After my experience so far, I'm just hoping it's going to go down the way they said. Since I don't have those, I talk with a "supervisor" who says that when I get paid they can do a one time lift of the hold on my card so I can withdraw my money from the atm. They tell me I can use "money network checks" (which I've never heard of and certainly don't have). Imagine my frustration of waiting all this time, and having to jump through all their hoops to talk to their outsourced customer service from another country just to find out that they never did what they said they were going to do, and that I'm now fucked out of my money. They have no record of sending a card, and try to tell me I never asked for one. #Bank of america mymoney network full#So, two full weeks later, here we are- I get paid at 9:30 tonight, and after getting fucked over last week I NEED my money this time. I check the mail every day, but I have gotten no form in the mail, and definitely no replacement card. My parents help me out with $ as much as they can, and I get through the next couple of weeks. So I'm already getting screwed over, but I try to move on. They told me the process to get my money back, IF I get my money back, will take 60-90 days. They tell me that they have to send me a form in the mail, I have to fill it out and mail it back (there is no electronic way to do this, apparently), and then they can START to dispute the claim. #Bank of america mymoney network how to#I call them back and ask how to get my money back. The next day, the purchase was no longer pending. After answering a bunch of their questions (I had to do this everytime, they make it take almost ten minutes just to talk to someone), they confirmed my address and told me a new card was on the way. I call back, and tell them that I want to get a replacement card sent to me. I was pissed, but figured it may have just been policy when someone told them their card was stolen (they should have made it clearer though). Apparently, they put the hold on my account after I told them not to. I hang up, use my cash for my groceries (most of which was supposed to be for rent), and try to use that last $10. They offered to put a hold on my card, I told them to wait (so I could use that last $10 since I was already so low on cash). The transaction was still pending, so they told me basically to call them back when it was no longer pending. Obviously someone was able to use my card information, so I call the number on the money network card. Apparently, a $200 purchase was made at Sephora in Raleigh NC (far away from where I actually live). Of course, I'm very angry and confused, and I look at my account details. but when I look at my account balance, it says $10.95. I knew I had a little over $200 after taking out a good bit of cash. As I walk into the store, I decide to check my account to get an exact number of how much money I have left (even though I had a rough idea in my head. Pay day arrives, I withdraw some cash and buy something at my store (not a huge purchase, about $20). I don't like banks personally, and I don't like to keep up with checking fees and whether or not I'm meeting the criteria to avoid them.Īlso, this card gave me my paychecks the night before payday at 9:30 EVERYTIME, which was earlier than anyone else got their pay with a bank. So I work in a used book store (we sell a lot of other things as well), and I was given a Money Network visa card that says "bank of america" for all my payment because I don't have a bank account. This might be common knowledge to a lot of you, but I had to figure things out in a not-so-fun way, so if my advice can help or persuade anyone to use a real bank or even just get paper checks, then awesome. I originally posted this on r/talesfromretail but I also have served a lot in the past and know that a lot of restaurants provide this same card.
